Can I mix cameras from different brands? Most IP cameras support ONVIF, which allows them to work with recorders from other brands. However, AI features like smart detection and colour night vision work best when cameras and recorders are from the same brand.

What resolution do I need? For most home and small business installations, 4MP gives a good balance of detail and storage efficiency. If you need to capture number plates or identify faces at a distance, 8MP (4K) is worth the upgrade.

Do outdoor cameras need a cover or housing? Most outdoor cameras are rated IP66 or higher and are designed to be mounted directly without additional housing. Some installations in harsh environments may benefit from a sunshield or junction box.
