Dahua NVRs support AI features like face recognition, perimeter protection, and smart search - so you can find the footage you need in seconds rather than scrubbing through hours of video.

DVR (Digital Video Recorder) - Designed for HDCVI (coaxial cable) cameras. If you are upgrading an existing analogue system or prefer a wired coaxial setup, a Dahua XVR supports both HDCVI and IP cameras, giving you flexibility without replacing your existing cabling.

How many channels do you need?

Channel count refers to how many cameras the recorder can support at once. As a general guide:

• 4-channel - Small homes, single-entry businesses, or starter kits
• 8-channel - Medium homes, small offices, or retail spaces
• 16-channel - Larger properties, warehouses, or multi-entry sites
• 32-channel and above - Commercial sites, car parks, or multi-building installations

It is worth choosing a recorder with more channels than you currently need, so you can add cameras later without replacing the unit.

How much storage do I need? A rough guide: 1TB stores approximately 7-10 days of continuous footage from a single 4MP camera at standard compression. For longer retention or higher resolution, we recommend 2TB or more per camera.

Can I use my existing hard drive? Dahua recorders are compatible with most 3.5" surveillance-grade HDDs. We recommend using a drive rated for 24/7 operation such as Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk.
